Swedish-Chinese Polestar is in the process of revolutionizing the electric car market. This summer, they are introducing two new models: the large SUV, Polestar 3, and the slightly smaller but groundbreaking Polestar 4. Polestar 4 combines elements from SUVs, coupes, and fastbacks, resulting in a unique car that impresses with its design and technological innovations.

The Missing Rear Window
The first thing that catches your attention about the Polestar 4 is its unique design without a traditional rear window. To ensure the car isn't too tall yet remains spacious with a high ceiling, Polestar decided to eliminate the rear window. Instead, the car features a digital rearview mirror that provides an unobstructed, panoramic view behind from an HD camera. The camera is mounted at the back and designed to keep water and dirt away from the lenses. If the driver wants to see the passengers in the back seat, they can switch from the video feed to a regular rearview mirror.
Aerodynamic Design
Polestar 4 measures 484 cm in length, 214 cm in width, and 154 cm in height. The 300 cm wheelbase contributes to a spacious cabin and good road stability. Compared to the Polestar 2, the Polestar 4 is longer and higher, giving it a streamlined and aerodynamic appearance. It is lower than the Polestar 3 SUV but wider and with a longer wheelbase.
Long Range and Fast Charging
Polestar 4 offers two Long Range versions with a 100 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 620 km for the Single Motor version and 590 km for the Dual Motor version. Charging from 10% to 80% takes about 30 minutes with a 200 kW DC fast charger.
Spacious and Inviting Interior
The lack of a rear window allows for an extended panoramic roof, creating a sense of spaciousness and openness inside the car. There's an option to upgrade to an electrochromic glass roof, where you can control the light penetration through the car's central display. The glass can go from opaque to transparent, either blocking the light or letting it through.
Polestar 4's solar system-inspired lighting contributes to a unique atmosphere while driving. The lighting around the driver and passengers creates a calm and immersive ambiance in the cabin. Using white and multi-colored LEDs, the mood can be changed by selecting different themes on the central display.
The trunk can hold 526 liters, which can be expanded to 1536 liters when the seats are folded down.
Fashion-Inspired Interior
Polestar 4 offers five unique interior themes to suit every taste. According to Polestar, the form-fitted performance materials are inspired by both the fashion world and sportswear, ensuring a stylish and comfortable driving experience.
Polestar aims to lead in the production and development of environmentally friendly interior materials. With the interior of Polestar 4, they have proven that high quality does not have to be compromised while focusing on reducing environmental impact.
An example is the innovative Tailored Knit fabric, made from yarn spun from 100% recycled PET bottles. Alternatively, Polestar 4 offers perforated Nappa leather from the renowned automotive leather producers, Bridge of Weir. The leather meets strict standards for animal welfare and quality. For those who prefer a vegan option, there is Bio-attributed MicroTech, made from renewable vinyl and recycled polyester textile.
Carbon Footprint from Production to Disposal
Polestar is the first car manufacturer to publish data on the carbon footprint from the production of their cars. Polestar 4's lifecycle shows how materials, battery production, manufacturing, and logistics contribute to the car's total carbon consumption. Its total carbon footprint is 19.9 tons for the Standard Range Single Motor and 21.4 tons for the Long Range Dual Motor.
